How to improve the corrosion resistance of Gabion box
Gabion is mechanically woven from high corrosion resistant, high strength, ductile low carbon steel wire or PVC coated steel wire. The box structure made from this mesh is the Gabion box.
According to ASTM and EN standards, the diameter of the low carbon steel wire used varies according to engineering design requirements. Generally between 2.0-4.0mm, the tensile strength of Gabion steel wire is not less than 38kg/m2, the weight of coating is generally higher than 245g/m2, and the diameter of the edge line of Gabion box is generally larger than the diameter of the wire. The length of the double-wire stranded portion shall not be less than 50 mm to ensure that the metal plating and the PVC coating of the stranded steel wire are not damaged.
The more galvanized layers of the Gabion box, the greater the corrosion resistance and the lower the corrosion rate. Therefore, the Gibion box is plated with several layers of zinc to prevent the corrosion of the Gabion box.
The uniformity of the Gabion box coating. The plating layer is distributed on the outer surface of the steel wire in a ring shape, and the plating steel wire with poor production process is thin on one side, and the control point of the service life is weak. That is, although the weight of the coating can reach 250 g/m2, the effective available plating amount is only about 100 g/m2. The plating of 10% aluminum-zinc alloy steel wire is relatively uniform.
The firmness of the Gabion box coating. Once the coating breaks, it is susceptible to corrosion. Since the Gabion box is twisted, the requirements for the firmness of the coating are relatively high.
